Who We Are

Engineering for Perfection Since 1946

Total Quality Since 1946

Redding Reloading Equipment was founded in 1946 by Burr Bement. Originally located in a repurposed agricultural building in the small town of Virgil, NY, the need for more manufacturing space quickly led to the company being moved to a larger manufacturing facility in the nearby city of Cortland where it was incorporated as Redding-Hunter, Inc. in 1956.

The first product that Redding manufactured was a beam style powder scale which was the first of its kind designed expressly for reloading ammunition. This was quickly followed by a host of other products including a powder measure, shotshell reloading presses as well as rifle style sights and stock accessories for shotguns.

In the 1960’s, the company continued to evolve and began to focus primarily on manufacturing reloading tools. As non-reloading products were shed and new product introductions began, the company began marketing its product line under the name “Redding Reloading Equipment.”

In 1974, the company was purchased by local outdoorsman, benchrest shooter and Engineer, Mr. Richard Beebe. In the years that followed, Mr. Beebe worked tirelessly to instill his vision of quality and innovation on the products that he designed and put into production. As a forward thinking businessman, Richard prioritized assembling a team of extremely skilled machinists, toolmakers and customer service technicians as he understood that it was vital to making his company’s reputation what it is today. As a result of his hard work and dedication, years of growth and expansion ensued.

The following decades were marked by numerous building projects which added valuable space for new CNC Milling and Turning Centers, metrological equipment, and several research and developments laboratories. These additions and added capabilities led to the development of a host of new industry-leading products such as the venerable T-7 Turret Press, 2400 Case Trimming Lathe, Competition Powder Measures, our best-in-class Competition Neck Sizing and Seating Dies as well as many other award-winning and innovative products.

Redding has also continued to grow its product portfolio with several acquisitions. In 1986, Redding purchased the assets of the Santa Anita Engineering Company (SAECO). The SAECO product line includes high-quality bullet moulds and handles as well as the popular Lubri-Sizer amongst numerous other bullet casting tools.

In 2005, Imperial Lubricants, the originators of Imperial Sizing Die Wax and Imperial Dry Neck Lube, was acquired. As the industry leading brand in handloading lubricants, Imperial was a welcome addition to our product family. To this day, the production of both SAECO and Imperial Products continues in our manufacturing facility so that we can maintain high quality standards and acceptable lead times.

Today, Redding continues to grow and evolve in Central NY as new and updated machining centers are added to our production floor and skilled machinists become part of the Redding family

Over the years, the Redding team has continued to keep pace with the handloading market by holding firm to the beliefs that quality, innovation and excellent customer service are the keys to success. What People Say

Generally speaking, all reloading die makers make products that work. In my experience, however, Redding’s offerings are superior to those of other manufacturers. They’re easier to use, have better finish inside and out and result in reloads with greater precision, less runout and better accuracy. Their new “Z” series of 1″ die bodies should produce even better consistency and precision with the large cases used in long range and ELR competition.

Redding reloading products have helped me to excel in Benchrest shooting and hunting. The accuracy and quality can’t be beat and their customer service is excellent!

I met Richard Beebe 40+ years ago. I could see we shared the same standards of excellence for making the best respective products. Since then, he has created many new products and Redding continually improves upon them year after year.

I’ve used the BR-30 powder measure, competition dies and presses to shoot Benchrest. In 2021 I shot a  .1623 IBS Grand Agg record using these products. You won’t find nicer, more knowledgeable people.

I have been using Redding reloading products since I started reloading in the early 1990’s. This is around the time I was attending one of seven accredited gunsmithing schools in the US. The MCC Gunsmithing Program was a two year program. During my tenure at Gunsmithing School, I started shooting competitively. My main focus has been NRA/CMP prone long-range (1000 yard), Palma (800, 900 and 1000 yards) with either a 223 or 308. I have also been focused on ELR in the past decade and mainly in the “light” gun class.

Currently, I have over 250 sets of reloading dies and the vast majority are Redding. I find that Redding Competition seating dies produce the least amount of bullet runout vs. any other threaded seating die that I have tried. Also, my Redding BR-30 Competition Series Powder Measure throws very uniform and consistent charges which is critical for competitive match grade ammunition. The Redding Boss Reloading Press is the final tool utilized in my precision reloading setup. Redding stands for quality, consistency and precision!

Redding Reloading makes wonderful reloading equipment. Redding went out of their way to make 41 Special Dies for my custom revolvers, carbines and rifles. I have nothing but wonderful things to say and show you about Redding equipment when you stop to visit as a dealer, customer / end user Redding stands by their products and they are second to no one!

I’ve always used Redding type S bushing dies with great results, including two world records and back-to-back national championship titles for 2023 and 2024. Recently I’ve been working with the Z series dies and I’m impressed. I hold my reloading equipment to a high standard, and these dies have surpassed my expectations, especially for the magnum cartridges. When sizing brass, I have found variations as small as a .0005 across 200 pieces from the same lot, which is a necessity for benchrest shooting. These dies are high quality. The consistency is unmatched with increasingly smaller groups per firing. I am highly impressed with their overall performance.
